Last time I was bitching about summer hours. Well I've been really disheartened with my job at the district and I have started searching for a new position.
I had hopes that our Board of Education would take into account the progress and all the things I have taken on over the last year when the time for raises came on July 1. I know my previous supervisor, who left on June 30th, told the BOE what a great job I was doing, how much more reponsibility I've taken on then the person who previously held the job, but to them I guess our positions are a dime a dozen. So the only thing to do is begin searching and I did just that.
Seems like it takes forever once you start sending out resumes, then all the sudden, weeks later the phone calls start to come in. I spoke with a gentleman who is an Exec Director for an organization. This company is moving headquarters from NY to Chicago. He was swamped with resumes and was trying to narrow down his search for the best candidates for a face to face interview. We chatted for 20 min or so and he said I'd definately be getting a call back. Sure enough... I was leaving an interview, on my way back to work, and got a call to set up the face to face interview. Took half a personal day on a Monday, went to Chicago, had my interview and was offered the position the next day.
Had to do some negotiating regarding the salary, but finally we came to an agreement and I start my new job on October 10th. Will it be any better than my current job... hard to say but it will be more money and sometimes that can make more bullshit a bit more tolerable.
